Sharpening Skills: Inside IAUPR’s Mock Proficiency

The National Optometric Student Association at Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry recently hosted their fall semester Mock Proficiency for first-year students, an event held twice each semester to help prepare OD1s for their upcoming clinical proficiency exams. During this mock, students are graded using the same rubric and time restraints as the real proficiency, giving them a realistic sense of the testing environment. Afterward, OD1s have the chance to ask upperclassmen for personalized feedback, guidance, and tips for success—making it both a learning and mentorship experience. Through events like this, NOSA continues to promote academic excellence, confidence, and community among IAUPR students, ensuring future optometrists are well-prepared to succeed together.
